Proof Jesus is God
CLEAR YOUR DOUBT:     JESUS IS GOD

Note how Jesus always cast out demons, cured the sick, and did miracles in His own name.  Also, on several occasions Jesus deliberately said; "I AM".  This would never have been taken lightly by any Jew of Jesus' time.

Think!  Take for example Jesus’ words in John 10:30, “I and the Father are one.” When first encountered, this might not seem to be a claim to be God. However, when we look at the Jews’ reaction to His statement, “For a good work we stone
thee not; replied the Jews, but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.” (John 10:33).

Now we see an actual claim.  The Jews understood Jesus’ statement to be a claim to be God. In the following verses, Jesus never corrects the Jews by saying, “I did not claim to be God.” That indicates Jesus was truly saying He was God by declaring, “I and the Father are one” (John 10:30).

John 8:58 is another example. Jesus declared, "I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am " Again, in response, the Jews take up stones in an attempt to stone Jesus (John 8:59). Why would the Jews want to stone Jesus if He hadn’t said something they believed to be blasphemous, namely, a claim to be God? John repeatedly tells us of the Lord's connection to "I Am". 

 John: 4:26, 8:24, 8:28, 8:58,and 13:19.  The Apostle Paul tells us that Jesus " is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist." (Colossians 1:15-17)

John 1:1 says that “the Word was God.” John 1:14 says that “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us” This clearly indicates that Jesus is God in the flesh.

Acts 20:28 tells us, "...Be shepherds of the church of God, which He bought with His own blood." Who bought the church with His own blood? Jesus Christ. Acts 20:28 declares that God purchased the church with His own blood. Therefore, Jesus is God!


1Timothy 3:16 “God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory”

Isaiah 7:14 “Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.  Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call His name Emmanuel”, which being interpreted is, God with us. Matthew 1:23

Isaiah 9:6 “ For unto us a Child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder: and his name will be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace”
Luke 7:16 “And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited his people”

John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God”

Revelation 19:11-14 - speaking of Yeshua/Jesus leading the Army of Heaven:
 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning
and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

"The Father judges no one but has given all judgment to the Son, so that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Anyone who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him." ( John 5:22-23)


"If I am not doing the works of my Father, then do not believe me; but if I do them, even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me and I am in the Father." ( John 10:37-38)



THE BOOK OF COLOSSIANS:



The entire context of Colossians 1:15-27 is filled with superlatives in its description of the Lord Jesus as the "image of the invisible God, the first begetter [or according to Erasmus ''original bringer forth''] of every creature."



The Apostle Paul lauds the Son of God as Creator of all things (v.16) and describes Him as existing "before all things" and as the one by whom "all things consist" (v.17). This is in perfect harmony with the entire picture Scripture paints of the Eternal Word of God (John 1:1), who was made flesh (John 1:14) and of whom it was written: "All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made" (John 1:3).



The writer of Hebrews also pointed out that God's Son "[upholds] all things by the word of his power" (Hebrews 1:3) and that He is Deity in all its fullness, even as Paul wrote to the Colossians: "For...in him should all fullness (of God) dwell" (Colossians 1:19)





WHAT ABOUT THIS "SON OF MAN" THING?



The expression, “son of man,” was used in the Old Testament by Daniel as the term for the Messiah Who, at His second descent to earth at the end of this age, would come “...with the clouds of heaven” (Daniel 7:13,14) 



This same scene was described in more detail by John:

And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle. (Revelation 14:14)

Jesus’ favorite term for Himself was the “Son of Man” (Matthew 8:20, 9:6, 10:23, 12:8,32,40, 13:37,41, 16:27,28, 17:9,12,22, 18:11, 19:28, 20:18,28, 24:27,30,37,39,44, 25:31, 26:2,24,45; John 1:51, 5:27, 6:27,62, 8:28, 9:35, 12:23, 13:31). 
 
Using “Son of Man” really was an expression of humility, an indication of how God actually had been willing to lower Himself to mankind’s level by being born of a virgin (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:18-25) .  Now, it generally was accepted by the chief priests and teachers of the law that “Son of Man” meant “Son of God.”
When Jesus was led before the council of the elders of the people (Luke 22:66-71), He made the statement that “...Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God.,” they asked, “Are you then the Son of God?” (22:69,70a). Jesus replied, “Then said they all, Art thou then the Son of God? And he said unto them, Ye say that I am. His enemies confirmed that they understood this to be a claim by Jesus to be the Son of God by their response, “And they said, What need we any further witness? for we ourselves have heard of his own mouth. ”

 

PRAISES TO JESUS HUMAN NATURE

1.     "He was baptized as a man -- but He remitted sins as God...
2.     He was tempted as man, but he conquered as God...
3.     He hungered -- but He fed thousands..
4.     He was wearied, but He is the rest of them that are weary and heavy-laden.
5.     He was heavy with sleep, but He walked lightly over the sea...
6.     He pays tribute, but it is out of a fish; he is the king of those who demanded it...
7.     He prays, but he hears prayer.
8.     He weeps, but He causes tears to cease.
9.     He asks where Lazarus was laid, for He was man; but He raises Lazarus, for He was God.
10.  He is sold, and very cheap, for it is only for thirty pieces of silver; but He redeems the world, and that at a great price, for the price was His blood.
11.  As a sheep he is led to the slaughter, but He is the shepherd of Israel, and now of the whole world also...
12.  He is bruised and wounded, but he heals every disease and every infirmity.
13.He is lifted up and nailed to the tree, but by the tree of life He restores us.
14.  He dies, but he gives life, and by His death He destroys death."
Lesson 15: Jesus Christ, True God and True Man
"Again the high priest asked Him, and said to Him:  Art Thou the Christ the Son of the blessed God?  And Jesus said to him:  I am.  And you shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of the power of God, and coming with the clouds of Heaven.  Then the high priest rending his garments, saith:  What need we any further witnesses?  You have heard the blasphemy.  What think you?  Who all condemned Him to be guilty of death."  (Mark 14:61-64)
  1. Who is Jesus Christ?

    2.    Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the Second Person of the Holy Trinity, true God and true man.
    "But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent His Son, made of a woman, made under the law:  That He might redeem them who were under the law:  That we might receive the adoption of sons."    (Galatians 4:4-5)
  2. Is Jesus Christ really God?

    3.    Yes.  He is equal to God the Father and equal to God the Holy Ghost.
    "And lo, the Heavens were opened to Him:  And He saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove, and coming upon Him.  And behold a voice from Heaven, saying:  'This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.'"    (Matthew 3:16-17)


    "Going therefore, teach ye all nations; baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost."    (Matthew 28:19)

    4.    Yes.  He said this to the Apostles and to the people and also while under oath in the Sanhedrin court.
    "I and the Father are one."    (John 10:30)


    "Jesus saith to them:  But whom do you say that I am?  Simon Peter answered and said:  Thou art Christ, the Son of the living God."    (Matthew 16:15-16)

    6.    In general, a miracle is an unusual event which is contrary to or beyond the laws of nature and which cannot be explained except through the power of God.
    "The works themselves, which I do, give testimony of Me, that the Father hath sent Me."    (John 5:36)

    7.    Never, because only through the power of God could blindness be cured instantly or the dead come back to life just by the sound of a voice.
    "From the beginning of the world it hath not been heard, that any man hath opened the eyes of one born blind.  Unless this man were of God, he could not do any thing."    (John 9:32-33)
  7. How do miracles prove a statement to be true?

    8.    A miracle can be performed only by the power of God, and God could not perform a miracle in favor of a lie.
    "For the works which the Father hath given Me to perfect; the works themselves, which I do, give testimony of Me, that the Father hath sent Me.  And the Father Himself who hath sent Me, hath given testimony of Me."    (John 5:36-37)

    9.    He cured six blind men, eleven lepers, two paralytics, a deaf mute, raised three people from the dead, cast the devil out of many, changed water into wine, calmed a storm, walked on the waters of the sea, twice fed thousands of people with a few loaves of bread and a few fish -- a word, a look, a gesture, a simple touch, and all nature obeyed Him as its Master.
    "Many other signs also did Jesus in the sight of His disciples, which are not written in this book.  But these are written, that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God:  And that believing, you may have life in His name."    (John 20:30-31)

    13.    Yes, some of them were about His origin, nationality, tribe, divinity, time and place of birth, the virginity of His Mother, His flight into Egypt, His betrayal, and practically all the details of His Passion and death, agony, scourging, mockery, Crucifixion, burial and Resurrection.
  13. What are some of the prophecies made by Jesus?

    14.    The following have already been fulfilled:  Those about His Passion, death, Resurrection, denial by Peter, betrayal of Judas, the coming of the Holy Ghost, the persecution of His followers, the destruction of the Temple and Jerusalem and the preaching of the Gospel throughout the whole world.

    15.    Like the miracles, they prove that Jesus was telling the truth when He said He was God.

    16.    Yes, because He has a body and a soul.

    17.    No, He is a divine Person, the Second Person of the Holy Trinity.  Jesus Christ has two natures, a human nature and a divine nature, and yet He is only one Person.

    18.    Yes, He is God from all eternity, but He became man some two thousand years ago.
    "For in Him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead corporeally."    (Colossians 2:9)
  18. Why did God become man?

    19.    To save man from his sins and to open again the gates of Heaven.
    "Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners."    (1 Timothy 1:15)
  19. How did Jesus save man?

    20.    By His death on the Cross.
    "Knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things as gold or silver, from your vain conversation of the tradition of your fathers:  but with the precious blood of Christ."    (1 Peter 1:18-19)
  20. Are you automatically saved by the death of Jesus?

    21.    No, because His death merely makes it possible for you to be saved.
    "With fear and trembling work out your salvation."    (Philippians 2:12)
  21. What is necessary to be saved?

    22.    You have to be baptized, belong to the Church established by Jesus Christ, obey the Ten Commandments, receive the Sacraments, pray, do good works and die with Sanctifying Grace in your soul.
    JESUS IS GOD
    Jesus is God in the flesh, that was why Isaiah 9:6 said that the child to be born will be called “ALMIGHTY GOD”, and even in the Old Testament, the bible says in Genesis 17:1, “ when Abrah was 99 yrs the Lord appeared to him and said. “I AM THE ALMIGHTY GOD. OBEY ME AND ALWAYS DO WHA IS RIGHT.”
    JESUS IS GOD
    Jesus is God in the sense that the bible in the book of Exodus 3:14 says “God said I AM WHO I AM. This is what you must say to them. The One who is called I AM has sent me to you”.

    The same word Jesus used in the New Testament, that when the son of man is lifted up you will know that I AM WHO I AM. Again in another occasion he said “YOU WILL DIE IN YOUR SINS IF YOU DO NOT BELIEVE THAT I AM WHO I AM. YOU WILL DIE IN LYOUR SINS.

    Jesus is God who was the rock that was struck in the Old Testament in Exodus 17:5-6 “I will stand before you on a rock at Mount Sinai strike the rock and water will come out of it for the people to drink.”

    Same Jesus we call the Rock of Ages in the New Testament.

    Have you ever read this book of ACTS 7:37-39 “Moses is the one who said to the people of Israel, ‘God will send you a prophet, just as he sent me, and he will be one of your own people? He is the one who was with the people of Israel assembled in the desert; he was there with our ancestors and with the angel who spoke to him on mount Sinai, and he received God’s living messages to pass on to us.

    But our ancestors refused to obey him; they pushed him aside and wished that they could go back to Egypt.”
    HOLY SPIRIT AS GOD
    In Acts 5:3-4 “Peter said to him, ‘Ananias, why did you let Satan take control of you and make you lie to the Holy Spirit by keeping part of the money you received for the property? Before you sold the property, it belonged to you; and after you sold it, the money was yours. Why, then, did you decide to do such a thing? You have not lied to human beings-you have lied to GOD.
